Leslie Mann began her career in the late 1940s as a singer with the band The Platters. In 1951, she starred in the Broadway play One Hundred Years of Solitude and went on to become one of American cinema’s most well-known and successful actresses. Between 1951 and 1957, she starred in ten films, five of which were released within two months of each other. Her biggest success came from her role as Sarah Pittman in The Graduate (1967), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress.

In 1967, Leslie Mann embarked on a successful tour of Europe after winning an Academy Award for Best Actress in The Graduate. She then retired from acting but continued to make occasional appearances throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 2018, Leslie Mann died at the age of 76 after a long battle with leukemia.

From 1978-1981 she wrote for The Village Voice and then for Rolling Stone Magazine before becoming an editor at Harper’s Bazaar in 1981. From 1984-1989 she served as managing editor at Condé Nast Traveler before becoming an assistant managing editor at Vogue Magazine from 1990-1994. In 1995 she became senior associate editor at Vanity Fair Entertainment Company before being promoted to assistant managing editor in 2000 and then to editorial director in 2003. After leaving Vanity Fair Entertainment Company in 2006, she joined the online media company Gawker Media as an editorial adviser until her firing in 2009.
